What is Welt?
Welt goes by several names. It can be called a welt trim, welt cord, welt piping, or simply welting. It is the decorative trim around the edges of a cushion to give the cushions a more finished look. A thin piece of cord or piping is wrapped in fabric and sewn to the seams of a cushion. It serves two primary functions. The first is functional, helping to strengthen and protect the seams of the cushion. The second is visual. Welt gives cushions a more finished look and emphasizes the shape of the cushion. Welt that matches the color of the cushion fabric is called a "matching" or "self" welt.
Warranty
Ebel's warranty covers manufacturing defects; normal wear and tear is not included. With a little bit of care, your furniture will outlive the warranty for many years.
- Aluminum frame has a 15-year residential warranty against structural failure or manufacturing defects
- Wicker has a 15-year residential warranty against structural failure or manufacturing defects
- Finish has a 3-year residential warranty against peeling and blistering under normal use and proper maintenance
- Sunbrella, Outdura, and Bella Dura Fabrics have a 5-year fade warranty
- Outdoor cushions have a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of purchase
Care & Maintenance
Over time, powder-coated finishes exposed to the elements may show signs of weathering such as reduced gloss and slight color loss. Use a non-abrasive soap or household cleaner and wipe aluminum and woven pieces with a soft cloth. Furniture can be rinsed with hose water. We do not recommend using chemical cleaners such as acetone, alcohol, mineral spirits, or lacquer thinners. Avoid using pressure washers. For cushions, clean with mixture of water and mild soap. Rub in mixture with soft brush and allow to thoroughly soak into the fabric. Rinse thoroughly with cold water (just a regular garden hose) and air dry. We recommend covering your furniture when it's not in use. Use a high-quality breathable furniture cover (NOT a tarp) to help minimize UV exposure, as well as to help keep the furniture clean.Covers & Storage: To prolong the life of your furniture, we recommend using a protective cover. In areas with harsh winter climate, store the cushions inside of a garage or shed, and cover the frames to prevent damage.
