Gas Fire Pits: Clean-Burning Warmth Without the Ash

A gas fire pit lights with the push of a button, burns clean with no smoke, sparks, or ash to sweep up afterward, and shuts off just as easily when the evening winds down. That convenience is why gas has become the default choice for most backyard fire pits: no wood to store, no ash pan to empty, and no smoke drifting into a neighbor's yard.

We carry gas fire pits from two very different directions. Starfire Designs hand-casts its "Beton" line from GFRC concrete in Temecula, California, with a hidden compartment that tucks the propane tank out of sight and a CSA-certified burner underneath. POLYWOOD takes the opposite approach: HDPE poly lumber fire pit tables, several sold as complete Adirondack conversation sets with the fire pit built right into the group.

We don't carry ethanol fire pits — everything here runs on propane or natural gas.

Frequently Asked Questions: Gas Fire Pits

It comes down to whether you have a gas line. Propane fire pits use a refillable tank, often hidden in the base, and can go anywhere. Natural gas requires a line run out to the fire pit's location, which usually means a professional installation, but you never have to swap a tank.

The tank sits inside the base, behind an access door. Starfire Designs' Beton fire pits build this compartment right into the concrete base, so the tank is completely out of view during use and only needs to come out for a refill.

Very little compared to a wood-burning pit. There's no ash to clean out and no soot buildup. Occasionally checking the burner and connections for debris is about all it takes.

Some of ours can — check out our Fire Tables collection. A fire table is built with a usable tabletop surface around the flame, often with a lid that covers the burner completely when it's not lit.

Yes, including standalone glass wind guards. A wind guard shields the flame from gusts and adds a bit of visual polish. We carry them as separate accessories from both Starfire Designs and American Fyre Designs.
