Award-Winning Design in Ipe Timber
Jensen Innova is where outdoor furniture earns its design credentials. Within the broader Jensen Outdoor range, Innova is the most design-forward Ipe collection, built around named pieces from named designers with specific creative intentions behind each one. The result is a collection that rewards close attention rather than rewarding a quick glance.
The centerpiece is the Trellis Lounge Chair, designed by the Italian duo Edi and Paolo Ciani. It won the 2023 ICFA Design Excellence Award in the lounge seating without cushion category. The distinction matters: the chair earns its comfort through Ipe geometry alone, with an open trellis-work back and seat that provide support without any fabric or padding. On Ipe wood furniture, that's a notable achievement. Ipe's silica-dense fibers give it exceptional weather resistance, sourced via Jensen's FSC-certified Bolivian forestry operation, but the Cianis designed the Trellis to carry itself on form and seating ergonomics rather than cushion depth.
The Aurora dining pieces take a different direction. Designed by John Caldwell, they're built around geometric precision: floating seat panels and clean angular joinery that bring architectural exactness to the outdoor seating context. The Aurora dining arm chair, side chair, 43" dining bench, and 48" garden bench all share this vocabulary. Caldwell also designed the Melody 43" backless bench, a sculptural accent piece as comfortable as it is visually purposeful.
The Sway Modern Ipe Rocker rounds the collection out with motion. Sunbrella cushion fabrics are standard; Ultraleather, a waterproof polyurethane performance fabric, is available on select pieces for buyers who want an indoor-fabric feel without the maintenance concern. Jensen backs Innova with a 5-year residential warranty.
